Weary of Worry?

Before entering a store to find a specific item, my mother used to state out loud, “Because I want it, it won’t be here”.  And it wasn’t. As far as she was concerned, shopping was one of the most frustrating things in her life.  As her mother believed and role modeled before her, shopping was never easy and you could be sure you wouldn’t find what you came in for.  She would try to tell me I would be handed down this same “problem”.  Fortunately, I knew better. At a young age I had an intimate relationship with the Divine.  God and I communicated, heart-to-heart.  I knew how to ask for help … [Read more...]

From Fear to Trust

Fear says, I’m afraid of what could happen. Trust says, I don’t know what will happen but I I’ll try anyway. Fear says, It’s a scary world and people can’t be trusted. Trust says, The right people show up in my life at just the right time. Fear says, Save me. Trust says, I can do this on my own and in a way that is right for me. Fear plays into drama.  Trust observes drama yet doesn’t engage. Fear creates separation. Trust creates connection. Fear unconsciously reacts. Trust consciously responds. Happy 2017!

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me…since late October, in fact! Over the last three months, Larry and I have shifted our lives from our beautiful home on the beach outside of Gisborne to a small (but cute) rental home in the Bay of Plenty (This picture is on the walk behind our new home).   We’ve been in transition. I consider myself to be a happy and friendly person. Most of you who know and work with me will probably agree. For the most part, my life is easy, fun and love-filled. But that was not exactly the case last week. Last week, conflict was coming at me. The strangest things were happening all around. People were confronting, swearing, upset, and confused. In 4 days, I had 3 situations where I was the hub of some unsettling frustration and stress. What was going on? One of the things I love about the work I do is taking full responsibility for creating everything in my life. I know I am not a … [Read more...]

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

There used to be spaces in life that were sacred: walking along a beach, hiking in the mountains, traveling on planes, being in the bathroom or in bed even. Places you had space to BE, and the space to check in with yourself and hear those still, small voices that guide you and keep you true to yourself. Do you remember those days? Now there's televisions in the bedroom, cell phones or an iPad beside the bed, and most people are reachable on the beach, in the mountains and in their most intimate moments! To have sacred time for yourself, space to nourish yourself and your creativity, the … [Read more...]
