Hi beautiful,
Whether you are experiencing spring or autumn, I hope you are enjoying these days of seasonal transition.
With the warm light and beautiful autumn weather here in New Zealand, Larry and I have been getting out and walking daily. Here’s a photo I took today right outside our backyard.IMG_2661-3
But, I know it won’t last.  Transition between seasons, and in life, can be turbulent and often uncomfortable. Everything is changing and I believe it’s a learned practice to be able to stay balanced, centered and peaceful, especially when we are in the middle of one of life’s storms.
In fact, I was thinking on today’s walk, how many of us struggle to find happiness, love and purpose in our life.
Let’s face it…being human isn’t easy. Most of us spend our lifetime searching for happiness and wanting to fulfill our life purpose, only to spend much of the time feeling lost and frustrated.

Searching for your life purpose, can be a slippery slope when you allow your head to lead the way. Finding true and lasting happiness is a job for your heart.

Your head is good for linear thinking such as money and time management, language and systems. The problem starts when you remain in your head for non-linear information…like finding your life purpose and feeling happy and loved.

You are a Soul having a human experience. You were originally created from Source energy and you are much, much more than your mind.

Your Soul has a purpose or Supreme Destiny that calls you forth every day. This is actually why you chose to come back in this lifetime. Your Soul knows why you are here.

Your Soul knows the way.

Your Soul lives in your heart.  The secret to finding your true purpose in this lifetime is to connect to your Soul’s calling…to listen, hear and move forward from this place in your heart.
When you are in your head, you are unable to remember this. When you forget the truth of why you are here, it’s easy to get lost. In terms of happiness and love, when you stay in your head, it spins in uncertainty and directs you from a place of fear, worry, doubt, overwhelm and confusion.
That’s when you get off track and make choices that are wrong for you. That’s how you end up in the wrong place…the wrong marriage or the wrong job, for example.
Even though you may feel lost for a while, remember it’s all part of your Soul’s journey. This wrong choice was just a small detour along the way.
There are no mistakes, only lessons. These lessons are helping you learn about yourself. Keep moving! Use your “mistakes” to course-correct. Use these lessons to teach you something about yourself and quickly move back into your Soul’s direction.
Below are 5 steps for getting yourself back on course when you’re feeling lost:
  1. Notice. Notice when your head takes you into overwhelm and keeps you spinning in fear, worry and doubt. Your stressing, worrying and feeling lost are clues you are in your head and are going in the wrong direction. Notice, acknowledge the impact it’s having on your well-being and forgive yourself.
  1. Feel into your body. Take a deep breathe. Drop out of your head and into your body. How do you feel? Most likely you feel tight, constricted and heavy. Your body is letting you know you are off track. Your body is your compass.
  1. Get curious.  Ask yourself, “What happened? What doesn’t feel right?” Writing in a journal, talking to someone you trust or getting out in nature can help. Ask, “If I had a chance to this all over again, what would I do differently? What have I learned? What is this teaching me about myself and others?”
  1. Replace fear with trust. Remember, you have not lost your way. Trust in the process. Trust nothing is happening to you…instead, everything is happening for you…to learn and grow, to course-correct and move forward again. This is all part of life. You are on your journey! Remember, this too shall pass.  This is part of being human. This is part of the journey of your lifetime. As humans, this is how we evolve and grow.
  1. Take action. Ask, what is the next right move? Instead of allowing your small mind to take you into overwhelm and feel stuck, stop. Take a deep breath, come into your body, quiet your mind and ask, “What is my next right move in this moment?” Then, do that. And, ask again, “What is my next right move in this moment?” and do that. Take baby steps in the present moment. This will take you back in right direction.

Remember to feel into each choice. If it feels right, do that. If it feels wrong, stop and get curious.

Your life is much bigger than that one stressful moment of overwhelm. Everything is happening for a reason….either to propel you toward your Soul’s purpose or to show you when you’re off track. Use the steps above and trust in the process of life.
